What is an Engine Rebuild?
When you rebuild an engine, you’ll often remove the engine from the vehicle and take it apart completely. However, this expensive process is not always necessary. Using an inframe kit means the engine is rebuilt without being removed from the truck.
After the engine is completely taken apart, it will be cleaned and checked for issues. Damaged and worn parts are replaced and then when the engine is put back together, it gets all new seals, gaskets, and lubricants.
The parts that are commonly replaced tend to be things like gaskets, bearings, O rings, seals, pistons, and liners. Sometimes, more major parts may also need to be replaced. These can include the crankshaft, oil pump, oil cooler, cylinder head, and camshafts.
If the engine was seriously damaged before being rebuilt, you might also need to do more intensive work. For example, you might have to go to a machine shop to bore the engine block or the cylinders.
The signs that you might need an engine rebuild:
1. Knocking Sound
2. Excess Smoke
3. Oil Consumption
4. Loss of Compression
5. Loss of Coolant
