How to tell if it’s time for an engine rebuild:

What is an Engine Rebuild?

When you rebuild an engine, you’ll often remove the engine from the vehicle and take it apart completely. However, this expensive process is not always necessary. Using an inframe kit means the engine is rebuilt without being removed from the truck.
After the engine is completely taken apart, it will be cleaned and checked for issues. Damaged and worn parts are replaced and then when the engine is put back together, it gets all new seals, gaskets, and lubricants.

The parts that are commonly replaced tend to be things like gaskets, bearings, O rings, seals, pistons, and liners. Sometimes, more major parts may also need to be replaced. These can include the crankshaft, oil pump, oil cooler, cylinder head, and camshafts.
If the engine was seriously damaged before being rebuilt, you might also need to do more intensive work. For example, you might have to go to a machine shop to bore the engine block or the cylinders.

The signs that you might need an engine rebuild:

1. Knocking Sound
2. Excess Smoke
3. Oil Consumption
4. Loss of Compression
5. Loss of Coolant

Time for an Engine Rebuild?
you’ll be able to use these signs to narrow down exactly where the problem lies. Other times, simply going ahead and doing an engine rebuild is your best bet for fixing the issue.

Time to change your engine cylinder head?

the cylinder head is a very important part of all combustion engines, and cylinder head cracking can result in major damage to the engine. In some cases, cylinder head cracking may result in such severe damage to the engine that it must be replaced. As a result, most Truckers try to prevent cylinder head cracking, with preventative maintenance. The causes of cylinder head cracking are all relatively simple and easy to prevent, except in the case of mechanical parts failure through no fault of the operator.

The cylinder head, used in combination with a head gasket, seals the cylinders of the truck, along with other parts. The cylinder head is customized for the engine and has very precisely milled surfaces to provide a smooth and flush fit with all connecting parts. In the case of a minor crack, the cylinders may lose compression and misfire. Major cracks can cause severe damage to the cylinders of the engine. For this reason, when replacing either the cylinder head or the head gasket, make sure that you are using the correct parts. it is recommended that you use a reliable AERA member specialist.

our cylinder heads have a higher percentage of nickel wich withstand more heat than the original and are made with wider waterways to allow a more efficient cooling.

Crankshaft Failure.

Stress and modal analysis of a Diesel Engine Crankshaft were performed, an examination of the damaged part showed that the fatigue marks were observed on the fracture. Additional investigation presence of micro-cracks in origin damaged area. Results of tension test showed that mechanical properties of the steel used for the crankshaft manufacturing is in the range defined by the standard. In order to explain the reason for the crankshaft damage, the finite element method was made. Conditions were next defined on bearing journal surfaces. Complex load cases were also defined in order to model the real engine loadings. Non-Linear Stress analysis performed for the crankshaft model showed that during work of engine with a maximum power the high-stress area was located in another zone than the crack origin. Reason for an investigation on the dynamic problems. Frequencies and modes of free vibration were obtained. The modal analysis showed that during the second mode of free vibration the high-stress area was located in the crack origin zone. Results of performed investigations concluded that the main reasons for premature failure are resonant vibrations of the crankshaft.

A broken crankshaft is not a common occurrence. Cranks can break due to a casting or forging flaw but this is very rare if this happens contact us with the engine serial number or Browse in our inventory and get the correct Crankshaft for your engine. Buy
